Edge Snow Report: Fresh Pow This Week, More Coming This Weekend

We kicked off the week with fresh snow. See those numbers below as Storm totals. And the “New Snow This Week” includes the numbers from last weekend. And it looks like we have another storm coming in this weekend into Monday, but some of the models are starting to show that may only be a few inches. Even with the new snow this week, open groomed runs have the best coverage. On other runs, expect early season conditions including thin spots.

Sandia Peak:

New: 0

Storm: 7

Base: 6

Season: 43

Runs: 3/35 (trails under Lift 4 only until more snow arrives)

Lifts: 1/4 (Beginner lift only)

Notes: Lifts now run from 10 - 4 . Right now, its just the beginner area under Chair 4. Upper mountain will reopen when more snow arrives. Rentals, private lessons, retail, and food at the Café are available. Check out lift ticket specials on their website (click the Sandia Peak headline above.) Remember, with the upper mountain closed, you cannot ride the tram to the ski area.

Runs: 81/90 (90% open, lower and upper mountain)

Lifts: 6/7

Notes: Thanks to the storm, 8 more runs just opened. Even with the snow, there still may be thin spots and some early season conditions. The new Santa Fe Express High-Speed Quad is open (replaced the old quad chair).

Taos Ski Valley:

Lifts: 12/13 (Kachina Peak lift closed)

Notes: Highline Ridge is open with one run and West Basin to Zdarsky with 4 runs is now open.

Runs: 38/55 (4 runs groomed)

Lifts: 3/6 (Aspen, Beginner, Magic Carpet)

Notes: Open Thursday through Sunday. They are grooming parts of the mountain on green and blue trails. Watch for early season conditions.

Runs: 57/86 (67% of the mountain, 18 more runs just opened including a bunch of blues and some blacks)

Lifts: 7/7

Liberation Park and the lift are now open. Thanks to snowmaking, more terrain expected to open soon.

Runs: 11/44 (all open tails are groomed each night)

Lifts 4/6 (including Lift 1 to the top)

Notes: Top to bottom skiing on Sassafras off of Lift 1. They have been making lots of snow. Expect more terrain to open soon.

Lifts: 6/7 (New Copper Chair is now open. Silver Chair still closed).

Notes: The Pot O’ Gold terrain park is open with 3 jumps and 7 rails.

Notes: Headwaters, Halo and the Pitchfork terrain parks are open. On weekends, the tubing hill is open 4 - 8pm and Mountain Coaster is open 11am - 4pm.

Notes: The Water Fall area and Alberta Peak are open along with Knife Ridge and Horshoe Bowl. Sunday, January 12 is Wolf Creek’s 85th Anniversary Scavenger Hunt! Find as many stickers hidden throughout the mountain as you can!
