Aaron Hernandez, former Patriots star convicted of murder, hangs himself in prison

Convicted murder and ex-NFL player Aaron Hernandez committed suicide in his Massachusetts prison cell on Wednesday morning, just days after he was acquitted in a separate murder case. CNN reports that the 27-year-old former New England Patriots tight end was found hanging from a bed sheet attached to a window in his cell at the Souza Baranowski prison at roughly 3:05 a.m. He also attempted to block his cell door from the inside by jamming it with several items to keep it from being opened. Hernandez was serving a life sentence for killing Odin Lloyd in 2013. He was acquitted last week in a 2012 double killing in Boston that prosecutors said he committed after one of the men spilled a drink on him.
