What could have been.

Tori Amos opened up about her personal new album, In Times of Dragons, which released on Friday (May 1). The record sees the Grammy-nominated rocker taking on an alternate version of herself as a woman marrying a powerful, "demon lizard king billionaire," per Mojo.

In real life, the "Cornflake Girl" hitmaker is married to sound engineer Mark Hawley, with whom she shares daughter Tash.

"I had options, just so you and I understand each other," Amos revealed to PEOPLE about her romantic prospects upon catapulting to fame three decades ago. "I had some options back in the '90s that weren't just rock stars or musicians or roadies. There were some options. So I investigated in my mind, 'What if I married one of the billionaires?'"

Amos, who ultimately married Hawley in 1998, is currently on the road in a 35-date world tour in support of her 18th album.
