Billie Eilish Wants To Go Beyond Blackout Tuesday For 'Meaningful Change'

Billie Eilish knows that it's going to take so much more than Blackout Tuesday to fight against racial inequality for Black America.

On Tuesday (June 2), the alt-pop star, 18, took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the campaign and the long-term goals at-hand. “Blackout tuesday was supposed to be about taking a step back from promoting and posting about yourself and instead using your voice to amplify the message that systemic inequality will no longer be tolerated in this country!!! not posting a black square and silence......" she explained to her 63.7 million followers on Instagram. Her post featured a list of non-profit organizations that help push for equality, including Stacy Abrams' Fair Fight, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Campaign Zero and Black Lives Matter.

"We cannot be silent. not today. not any other day. we are here to unequivocally say that BLACK LIVES MATTER,” she continued. “And i want to use the platform i have to help take meaningful action that will create meaningful change!!"

Eilish went on to urge her followers to use their voices to create action. "I hope you used today to speak up, donate, protest, educate yourself, listen, learn, and call your elected representatives to demand CHANGE IN THIS COUNTRY. gonna be sharing some resources over the next couple days and i ask that everyone take action with me," she concluded.
