Mark Hoppus Reveals Blink-182's First Show Was Played To An Audience Of One

Blink-182 may be one of the world's biggest pop punk bands, but they weren't always playing to tens of thousands of fans. In fact, their first ever show was to an audience of one (two, if you count the bartender).

During a recent chat with Rock Sound, bassist Mark Hoppus detailed their first ever show. It was the summer of 1992, Travis Barker wasn't in the band yet, and they were just another group of teens making loud music.

"The first Blink show, we played this Biker bar in south San Diego," Mark recalled. "It was the bartender, one patron, the three of us. We played one song, then the one guy said ‘can you please turn it down?’, so we turned it down. Then we played another song and he said ‘can you please turn it down more?’ — we turned it down. We got a third song in, and he said ‘you know what guys? Let’s just call it. Let’s call it. Have some Snapple, you guys earned it.'"

Mark also reminisced about his first ever band practice and high school gig. His Simple Creatures bandmate Alex Gaskarth gave some early years memories about his group All Time Low, too. Watch the full interview below.
